ramblings of a three year old

Grady's world of three has been an completely insane and mind numbing amazing journey so far. Granted, he swings through moods and personlalities faster then Sybil, but when he is in a happy place, he is the funniest kid EVER! Here are some of his latest ramblings.

Me: What did you learn about at school today?
Grady: Dinosaurs!!
Me: (knowing it was 'B' day and he was supposed to learn about Betsy Bee) You did?!? What did you learn?
G: That they eat police officers.
Me: They do?
G: Yep. They rip their heads off and eat them...... I don't think I want to be a police officer when I growed up Momma.

This was his response when we were ghosted the other night by a neighbor. They left us a pumpkin (aka punk man) full of treats.
G: MOM!!! The punk man dinged our dig bell and left me me candy!! Why did he ding my ding bell Mommy??
M: To leave you a special treat.
G: Oooooh. The punk man doesn't like candy Momma?
M: Nope, he is sharing them with you.
G: I don't think the punk man should ding ding bells Mommy. He can scare people.

Hubby: Grady you need to pick up your toys before you can have a snack.
G: Dadda .... you're killin' me!!! (said as he throws his hands in the air)

And my all time favorite he said this morning in the car.
G: Momma! I know what I am going to learn about in school today!
M: What honey?
G: I'm going to learn about chickens and Jesus!!

And this is where he left me speechless!!

secret = road trip

Ok, I hinted to a secret yesterday and finally late this afternoon Mrs. Fussypants decided to share the great news. Yes, I am impatient so trying to wait all day long was painful. Are you ready?? Long pause... wait for it... wait for it.... Ok here it is! BLISSDOM 2008. Ok, I sooo want to call it the Blissdom 2000 tour cause it sounds like some crazy sex toy, but I will refrain - for now. I can't guarantee what I might say after a few drinks at the par- tay. I wonder if that is why I don't get invited to gatherings of this sort... hmmmm. Anyway, I am ditching my male filled house, jumping in the car and driving to Nashville baby! Feel like a road trip? Looking for a roommate? Let me know - I will sleep with you. Well, not in that way, but I will shack up in a hotel room with you. Oh wait, that sounds bad too. Roommate anyone? Anyone?....Bueller?? Is there anyone out there who will tackle the winding roads with me? Drop me a line and we can hook up. Darn I did it again!

dirty little secret

Oh do I have a secret and unfortunately I cannot share at the moment. To clear any weird or perverse thoughts some of you may have - I am not pregnant. Curse you if that thought popped in your seedy little brains!! The official announcement is tomorrow - be on the lookout. I guess I can give a few hints. No one put "official" rules out there as to what can and cannot be shared, so in my rebelious nature I will drop some ideas. I will be partaking in a road trip, getting all prettied up and indulging in a beverage or two.... oh what the heck three or four!! Once I get t the official OK, I will post. maybe you would like to join me on this adventure. Ooops! Did I let that slip?

another ridiculously awesome person

Blogging was made for bitching.

Whether it’s about slow drivers, unruly children, or spouses who can’t seem to pick up their own underwear, the blogosphere is constantly atwitter with our gripes. And while we would in no way suggest you stop bitching, once in a while it’s nice to stop and remember some of those people who makes us forget about the dirty underwear.

It is because of those people that Karen, Hilly and Miss Britt decided to launch The RAP Sheet.

Out here in Blogaritaville, there are some Ridiculously Awesome People. People who touch us, who make us laugh, who make us want to reward them with a cutesy graphic. Those are the people we add to The RAP Sheet.

Oh the high hopes they had! Karen, Hilly and Miss Britt were going to spread love and awesomeness througout the Internet! And everyone would start buzzing about goodness and kindness and awesomeness. And they made it two whole months! Loving on two whole people - before they got totally lazy and distracted! YAY for Love and Awesomeness!

Luckily, they had the beautiful Sam of Temporarily Me to nag and remind them what’s important. And so, at Sam’s insistence, The RAP Sheet is back!! And who better to start of the new trend of awesomeness then Ann at Ann Again... And Again?

Ann has the knack of making me smile, throwing amazing virtual parties and introducing me to some great new music and bands. I can also say that if she didn't live waaayyyy over there in Oregon, we would easily be 'real life' friends. Notice how I made the assumption that she would be my friend for her! Yeah, she is so cool like that. So for her awe inspiring coolness, her inner Mommy tiger and her forever kind and gentle spirit I now pronounce Ann a Ridiculously Awesome Person!

      ***********                ************                ***********

I know this can be a silly little button, yet another ‘thing’ to decorate your blog with ~ and goodness knows it’s hard to keep up…

But it’s more than that. The RAP Sheet, one day, will be filled with people who touch your heart in ways you never thought possible across the many miles of the internet, through their words, actions and the soul of their character. This is about bringing some love back to the blogosphere, about lifting each other up instead of knocking each other down, about throwing out paranoia about what this person or that person thinks. About accepting the fact that we are all different and unique ~ but that we all have one thing in common: the ability to reach out and touch someone.

Who are YOU going to reach out and touch?

have you heard the rumor?

So have you heard the latest? No, not about me getting a little too crazy over at Ann's GNO the other night. She was suppose to keep that a secret! Mixing her 'special' punch with my Nyquil made for a very sleepy lassie. Yaaawwwn!

No, the rumor I was referring to was the one about a certain lassie writing at a certain well known site. Yep. It is SO true. I tried to drop a hint a few weeks ago when I added my diva button in my sidebar. What?!? You didn't notice my sly attempt to lure you there? Well, now you have no choice!

This lassie is now going to keep you apprised of all the latest buzz around. Think Hollywood, book reviews, television shows, giveaways! It is all over at the newly revamped Blissfully Domestic. She looks quite ravishing after her face lift doesn't she? But ssshhh!!! You didn't hear that tidbit of buzz from me!

the random quirkiness that is moi!

The lovely Ann and Kaza tagged me for six random/ quirky things that make me, moi! Hmmmmm. Six thing, six things... let's see.

1. I have a bit of an obsession with ink. I have been under the needle six times and am already planning my next. If I could I would do it tomorrow I would. For some reason hubby says it is his turn next.... blah blah blah. He told me that three tattoos ago. I get tired of waiting and just go without him. Though I will also admit I love tattoos on men... groowwwl!

2. I am Erica Hahn on Grey's Anatomy. This quote sums me up more then words can say, "I don't... make friends easily. I'm awkward and am bad at small talk and generally don't like people I don't know..." Yeah, typically the neighborhood Barbies and I don't play nice. Sucks to be them!

3. I am painfully shy until you know me. Please see #2 for confirmation if you don't believe me.

4. I have slight OCD tendencies. My closet is organized by shirt sleeve length, color, patterns, etc. DON"T put a shirt where it does not belong. I cringe when I look at hubby's half assed closet of messy spew. I have learned to look away... just look away.

5. I love, love, luv my feet. They are very wide but have the cutest little toes! My love was strengthened when I gave birth to marshmallow boy. He has little corn nibblet toes, that thought don't fit in any affordable shoe made by mankind. They are short, fat and adorable!

6. I am surrounded by penises boys... they are everywhere!! I have a brother, 6 all male cousins, my husband, who also has 2 brothers, and together we have 2 boys. When I was pregnant with my oldest, so were 3 of the wives of his cousins. The four of us had 5 boys within 4 months! I have two cats that are male and had a male dog. I had to even our the field when we adopted our new dog Sophie. Finally some estrogen in this house!!!

Hope those are random and quirky enough. Don't want to divulge too much information! I am supposed to tag six more people but always dislike doing that because someones feelings always get hurt and then I am all Erica Hahn again.... it is just a wicked, wicked cycle. Feel free to join in and let me know when you do! here is all the legalese:

sunday randomness

This is what I found under my television entertainment center (I sooo hate that word) this morning when fetching a car for Grady. I was shocked, well not really but somewhat, at the randomness of crap that has taken up home under our TV. There is the array of cat toys, a lone pig ear from a Tickle me Elmo, a six armed warrior, a rock, a strawberry and protective goggles from a Rescue Hero. Grady was quite pleased with the find, especially the silky soft play mouse - ick.

This is what I imagine was really happening under the television late at night while we were all asleep. hey, it could happen. What...?? You have never seen a six armed warrior fighting all that is evil atop a pig? Well then my friend, you do not know what you are missing!

On a completely different note, hubby decided to put the kennel up on Craig's List. He is titling it as a multi purpose dog kennel for your pup or dog house for your spouse. I am actually growing quite fond of how he looks in there. Maybe we will keep it after all!

summa summa summa time

Since it is officially summer and I am enjoying the sunshine - FINALLY!!- I thought I would partake in mama's nest's summer meme. While I could easily just cut and paste her list, which I nodded eagerly along with, I won't. I will put some thought into the next 10 minutes and scribe my own Summertime Top 10.

1. Freckles - Drake's and of course, mine. I adore the girlish quality they give me when they speckle my nose and cheeks.

2. Tan lines - I love how the boys' bums almost glow after a summer of swimming and playing outside.

3. Lazy nights lounging in lawn chairs, sipping beer and watching the boys chase fireflies.

4. Painted Toenails - I love putting funky colors on my piggies in the summer. I give my nails a break in the winter, so as soon as there is any semblance of warmth, I paint them. My fave color this summer is Yoga-ta Get This Blue by OPI.

5. Laying in the sun - I know, I know. It's bad. It causes cancer, wrinkles and what not, but there is something about the warm feeling that spreads over parts of skin that have not seen sunlight in 9 months that relaxes me to my inner core. AND because I have ADD I can only do it for 10 - 15 minutes at a time before getting bored.

6. Camping. Call me crazy but I like to rough it every now and then. My favorite camp site, around here, is the Indiana Dunes - beach, lake and a super clean camp site.

7. My road bike. I used to clip off 15 - 20 miles a day, pre-children. I finally splurged last year and got a new road bike since mine was old as dirt and as heavy as a truck! It is fire orange and yellow and it ROCKS!!!

8. The beach - sand and surf is all this lassie needs.

9. Beer soaked brats on the grill. I had never eaten these monstrosities till I met my husband. He has me addicted and some days I itch for them. Gross, I know.

10. My ALL time favorite - not working!! Working in the schools has it's bonuses (and it's not the paychecks!)

photo hunt 114 - emotions

For this lassie, hunger is a serious emotion. Obviously I passed this 'emotion' to my son, who felt so hungry that he needed to gnaw on the nearest tree. Or perhaps he need a HUGE does of fiber.... with that one you can never be too sure. I pity can't wait to meet the person that captures his heart someday - poor soul. Did I mention there is a 'no return' policy on Grady? No...? Well now you know!!

death star canteen

This makes me laugh every frickin' time I watch it. Yes it's true, every time. I also highly recommend his 'Cake or Death' skit - priceless. Now, I command you to watch it or death by tray it will be!!

tattoo tuesday - yes i have a tramp stamp

Since I have officially RSVP'd to Sunshine Tattoo Party I wanted to share one of my 'non' entry tats just for fun. This is my third tattoo and I got it with hubby ten years ago. It is a Celtic knot with the I-Ching symbol for "Great Strength" in the middle. Hubby has the same symbol, but in the Chinese script form, above one of his tats on his arm - ahhhh, I know. So sweet it makes you want to puke - blah! As the title says, this tat is on my lower back. Before my latest it had been my favorite. Maybe it is the sentimental reasons, maybe the location, I am not sure. It is not like I can see it everyday!

Got ink? Then head over and join in all the tattoo fun at Sunshine's party. Looks like there is going to be a large turn out so far. Hope to see you there! I will be the one consuming large amounts of beverages in the corner :)

do you hear the happy mailman?

Who doesn't love the happy mailman? That is what Grady calls the ice cream man. I can see the resemblance of the mail truck and the ice cream truck but it still makes me laugh every time he says it. "Mommy can we get something from the happy mailman?" Sure! I knew I had the extra change laying around from the garage sale last weekend so I grabbed a handful and waited on the curb. Obviously the happy mailman is functioning one level under the mofia because his prices were outrageous! Guess he is trying to pay for his gas, his mortgage and his vacation home. Nothing was under $3.00 - yikes! He made sure to comment that he and Grady both had on Spiderman shirts - creepy if you ask me, but it made Grady smile none the less. He also made it a point to tell Grady that he would be back next week. That gives me plenty of time to plan a way to avoid that darn truck. It is also making me wish we didn't get Grady those darn ear tubes because now he can hear everything!

photo hunt

Who doesn't love a photo hunt about shoes?? This lassie LUVS her some shoes, these being one of my favorites. They were a present from my boys for my birthday last year and I wear them any chance I can get. With summer coming - hopefully sooner rather then later - I won't have the chance to wear them. So they will remain tucked away in my closet till fall. Oh how I will miss them!

who doesn't love a nerd?

What do you get when you invite a science nerd to a birthday party? Why a rather large toothpick and marshmallow building of course! I give props to the mom who thought this would be a fun party game because, with a bunch of second grade boys, this activity could go very, very wrong. Thankfully it didn't end like this -

The object of the game was to see who could build the tallest tower/ building. Ok, yes, I will admit that Drake won and that I secretly did the 'oh yeah' with an arm pump when the mother told me. Sorry - no matter how hard I try my competitive nature still over powers me. Drake was beaming and then began to describe, at length, why his was the tallest and what mechanical infrastructures he used so it would be sturdy as it got taller. Where did this kid come from??? Oh that's right... he's a mini-me. I do have to say his plan was well thought out. He did reinforce the lower levels with multiple layers if toothpicks.

When I joked with the mom that it's structural stability will soon be put to the test by Grady Godzilla, Drake's eyes bulged. I could see the tears forming and a breakdown in the making. "Don't worry sweetie. We'll hide it from your brother." A unconvinced nod followed and I decided it was time to exit - stage left. Thankfully Grady was asleep when we got home so Drake got to show off his creation to Dad without fear of brotherly repercussions. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it before spring hits in full force. For now it is atop of my refrigerator but I'm thinking it is going to be a ginormous bug magnet. Ideas?

** As a side note, hubby finally finished the backsplash but the tools are still on my dryer!!
